Soboye

Welcoming back Africa Fashion Week London’s Head Stylist for an incredible 10th year, we will see a continuation of Black Majesty collection.

Samson Soboye studied Fashion, Communication and Promotion (FCP) at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and went on to intern at British Vogue with Lucinda Chambers.  During his time, he has dressed sets and designed soft furnishings for photoshoots.  This led to widespread editorials in key Interiors publications such as World of Interiors, Elle Decoration, Wallpaper, House & Garden amongst others.  Soon, Samson Soboye cushions, throws and accessories were selling globally with Harvey Nichols, Joyce- Hong Kong, Donna Karan, 10 Corsa Como –Italy, among his stockists.

In 2002, Soboye opened the Soboye boutique on Calvert Avenue, London.  It remains the premier destination for luxury African Fashion and lifestyle products.  The high-end boutique stocks the Soboye ready-to-wear and bespoke collections as well as represents other designers from all corners of Africa.

Soboye is an in-demand stylist and African fashion exhibition curator, listing South Bank Centre, Somerset House, Soho House and Brighton Museum amongst his clients.  He regularly dresses celebrities such as Nile Rodgers, John Boyega, Michaela Coel and Wunmi Mosaku.

In the educational arena, Soboye teaches print and design and gives insights into starting and running a small fashion business, as well as advising student designers for Africa Fashion Week London’s mentorship programme.

In 2022, Soboye co-founded a not-for-profit organisation called Ikenga that advocates and provides mentoring for creative industry students entering the workplace.
