Xufan

Xufan is one of the most exciting emerging voices in African fashion, blending Ethiopian heritage, digital culture, and futuristic storytelling into a bold new creative universe. Founded by Ethiopian designer and digital artist Solome Kiflu, the brand sits at the intersection of fashion, art, gaming, technology, and culture — creating immersive collections that challenge traditional ideas of what African fashion can be.

Supported by the British Council Creative DNA 2026 programme, Xufan approaches fashion as world-building. Drawing inspiration from Ethiopian history, science fiction, fantasy narratives, Japanese aesthetics, digital art, and contemporary streetwear, the brand creates cinematic garments that feel as though they belong to both the future and the past.

The name Xufan, meaning "throne" in Amharic, represents self-discovery, identity, and empowerment. Through experimental silhouettes, functional design, and emotionally driven storytelling, the brand explores themes of belonging, freedom, individuality, and human connection. Each collection becomes an invitation to step into a new reality where culture, imagination, and self-expression coexist.

Already recognised through Hub of Africa Addis Fashion Week, Creative DNA Ethiopia and other collaborative creative industry initiatives, Xufan represents a new generation of African designers pushing fashion beyond clothing and into the realm of experience.
