Soboye
Samson Soboye studied Fashion, Communication and Promotion (FCP) at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and went on to intern at British Vogue with Lucinda Chambers. During his time, he has dressed sets and designed soft furnishings for photoshoots. This led to widespread editorials in key Interiors publications such as World of Interiors, Elle Decoration, Wallpaper, House & Garden, amongst others. Soon, Samson Soboye cushions, throws, and accessories were selling globally with Harvey Nichols, Joyce- Hong Kong, Donna Karan, 10 Corsa Como – Italy, among his stockists.
In 2002, Soboye opened the Soboye boutique on Calvert Avenue, London. It remains the premier destination for luxury African Fashion and lifestyle products. The high-end boutique stocks the Soboye ready-to-wear and bespoke collections as well as represents other designers from all corners of Africa.
Soboye is an in-demand stylist and African fashion exhibition curator, listing South Bank Centre, Somerset House, Soho House and Brighton Museum amongst his clients. He regularly dresses celebrities such as Nile Rodgers, John Boyega and Michaela Coel ,and he is Head Catwalk Stylist for Africa Fashion Week London.
In the educational arena, Soboye teaches print and design and gives insights into starting and running a small fashion business, as well as advising student designers for Africa Fashion Week London’s mentorship programme. He is also a sought-after University Lecturer with regular programmes at Winchester School of Art, Central St Martins and London School of Fashion.
In 2022, Soboye co-founded a not-for-profit organisation called Ikenga that advocates and provides mentoring for POC creative industry students entering the workplace.
