Kente Uncut is a collection designed by Aduhema, a third-year undergraduate who explores both tailoring and her cultural heritage through her work. For this collection, she developed a personalised kente cloth, drawing inspiration from traditional Ghanaian symbols to convey themes of empowerment, sophistication, and growth. Each illustration and silhouette has been thoughtfully designed by Aduhema, reflecting her artistic vision.
While rooted in traditional tailoring techniques, the collection embraces a gender-fluid approach. This is expressed through a line of garments that incorporates elements such as structured pockets and hand-sewn lapels. The designs are created to complement both male and female forms, allowing versatility and inclusivity.
This approach has shaped Aduhema’s design decisions, encouraging her to prioritise storytelling, artistry, and a deep respect for heritage throughout the collection.
