Disney’s The Lion King Theatrical
Africa Fashion Week London proudly announced a new partnership with Disney’s THE LION KING for AFWL2025.
The collaboration opened the 7pm catwalk showcase on Saturday, 9 August at Space House, with a special performance from Disney's award-winning West End musical, THE LION KING. AFWL2025 audiences experienced the power of The Circle of Life, the opening track from the iconic show firsthand from the incredible singer and actress Thenjiwe Nofemele, who plays Rafiki in The Lion King, was dressed in a bespoke creation that fused traditional African textiles with contemporary runway flair.
Supporting singers Matthew Nhlapho and Sipho Mlombile were also outfitted in tailored, African-inspired garments designed to complement the production’s theatrical aesthetic while seamlessly integrating into the catwalk’s high-fashion setting.
